Waterfall

Waterfall

This is my first humble stab at several things. First of all, it is my first usable long exposure shot using an ND filter. Secondly, this is my very first HDR shot. Finally, it is my first shot processed with the amazing Nik Color Efex 4 - a great piece of software.
But processing didn't stop there. In Apple Aperture, I also removed lots of spots and specks that were caused by dirt within my camera. Some of it is still visible when you look at the sky very closely. I will have to clean my gear before I try long exposures again.
This is not a natural waterfall. It has been built in my local zoo to provide the visitors with the illusion of actually walking in the wilderness of Alaska.
This is more or less a test shot. I am completely aware of the fact that it doesn't really show anything particularly exciting or interesting. But I shared it anyway because I have always been fascinated by long exposures of flowing water and I also like the color processing here.

Some people congratulated on this image making it to the FlickR Explore selection. However, I can't confirm that. I have no idea why they wrote it.

Green Mamba

Green Mamba

I hate snakes! All of them. I really do. And even worse. I am scared of them more than I am scared of anything else. So, consider this a futile attempt of self therapy.

First, I thought this was a Boomslang, so the first approximately 240 viewers read that name in the image title. However, I rechecked the zoo's list of animals and found out that it was actually a Green Mamba.

Tiger on black

Tiger on black

Those "on black" portraits work in color as well - especially if the subject is a tiger with such a vibrant fur. I hope you like it.
Processed entirely in Apple Aperture.
