Day 123 - Green before Bloom

    April 28th, 2008:
I came home after work with a new friend today, a pot of tulips.

After spending time focusing on the beautiful tulips themselves, the various patterns in the remainder of the plant were demanding attention.

(This is my first attempt at macro stuff. I find it extremely difficult and rather don't have the patience for it. Respect to all those whom do! :))

The light on the leaf there is amazing. That's the key with macro, I think, to have light on a specific area to create some movement. Otherwise it's just a boring close-up.

      Nice job.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it.

Lisa- Without any proper lighting, I found the best light source of all-- The sun! It was overcast but the light it threw on the plant was generous and not harsh.

Actually, it's very soothing to just sit in front of a plant, following its lines, trying to figure out how to best shoot it. No wonder lots of photographers like macro!

vic- I understand what you mean. Hopefully you're busy with good things :) Oh, the dust... it tends to amplify itself this close to the subject. Probably should pay more attention in PP.

Sweet! Don't seems to be "you" ! However, it proves (again) that your art abilities are HUGE! Wonderful DOF!

It's beautiful! I love shooting macro, and most of the time I just use natural light like you did. This is very different for you, I am glad to see you branching out....its good for us as photographers to get out of our comfort zone.
