vendor man (poem)

vendor man (poem)

The Vendor man is poor, but proud, to share with you his wares.
as he wends his way through crowds, in city streets and fairs,
and raises memories of the days when all you did was play.
"I'll take a monkey on a string" the vendor hears you say.
you look around, quite 'sheepishly', for you've no child in tow,
but vendor man smiles and winks..for it's his job to 'know
the little truth that most of us never will discuss;
that 'child' is ALWAYS near at hand...because it's really US !

"Daddy gets 'butterflies' when I drive his trucK"

"he thinks I can't...but I think I CAN...cause I'm
the 'mighty baby' of a diesel man.

momma's kinda scared and she's crying "boo hoo!"
but, watch out butterlies!...Mason's commin' through"

rollin', rollin', rollin',
though the streams are swollen
keep them dogies rollin', rawhide!
Through raw wind and weather,
hellbent for leather,
wishin' my gal was by my side.
All the things I'm missin',
good vittles, love, and kissin',
are waiting at the end of my ride"
RAWHIDE !

welcome to Texas...but, behave yourself!

welcome to Texas...but, behave yourself!

The only line of defense in the wild Texas frontier in the early days of the Republic, Texas Rangers accomplished amazing feats of policing considering the overwhelming odds they olten faced.. Once, a lone ranger Captain sent to quell a mob in South Texas was asked by the populace "where are the rest of the Rangers". His reply was something like "One riot..one ranger"

Those of you who know my family can 'find' a member in this historic image if you look knowingly.
Real County Ranger Company, 1880
(no, of COURSE I didn't 'take' the original image...I mean, this was at 'least' a couple years before I was born!"
but it IS on my favorite coffee cupLOL)

lonesome 'puppy'

lonesome 'puppy'

You were the sunshine, baby,
whenever you smiled.
But I call you Stormy today.

All of a sudden there is
rain falling down.
and my world is cloudy and gray...
you'rve gone away.

Oh Stormy...
oh Stormy..
Bring back that sunny day
