The Purple Tunnel of Doom![]() We soon realized that part of the sudden movement was due to the fact that the orderly line that had been so patiently waiting for all those hours had finally dissolved as people started to crowd and fill-in the tunnel in an effort to get out. By this point, it must have been 10:30 or later and though it was assumed that we were screwed and not getting into the event, STILL no one had told any of the several thousand of us a single thing.
At this point, the tunnel completely filled out with people and there was no way out of tunnel even if you wanted to go home. The people standing high on the right are up on barricades that created a sort of skinny walkway along the wall there. But even so, people were standing in that walkway in order to put a concrete wall between themselves and the crush of people, so you couldn't really walk up it anyway. It was at this point that an older woman next to us started talking about being scared. We were trapped in this tunnel, everyone was very close together, and being a bit older, she worried about getting knocked over if people got crazy. I can hardly blame her. It was terrible.
