Des Plaines Disaster Drill

A number of volunteers gathered at a community center in Des Plaines, IL, on Nov. 14, 2009, to learn about setting up and working in a shelter. They worked with volunteers and staff members from the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago who guided them through everything from client registration to equipping the shelter to handling various difficulties through role playing activities.
