Porthcawl III

Porthcawl III

Doesn't always have to be huge dramatic waves, can be about shapes and light.

This is why this is probably my favourite of the Porthcawl series. It was way beyond landscape light, but I just fancied sticking around the play around with the isolation of the lighthouse a little more.
Then this hand appeared from the waves and love the battle it creates, I could have cropped allot tighter, but actually i quite like the ebb and flow of the foreground.
For those purists, this is about as untouched as I do. A small crop, a slight exposure tweak and that's it.

Shot on a Tripod mounted 5D2, no filters.

Raging Sea

Raging Sea

I waited for the light to get really quite dark as I really wanted the light from the lighthouse to be visible and counter balance the power of the wave.
Using Silver effex pro has given me the grainy film contrast finish I was after and had in mind whilst making the photograph.

The 5D2 thankfully survived

Sundown Snowdonia

Sundown Snowdonia

This was taken coming down the slopes of Moel Siabod looking towards Snowdon and about 30 minutes before actual sundown.
We hoped to make it down and around to a lake but got bogged down by the immense light on the summit.
Bit of a layer heaven.

Afon Ogwen and Tryfan, Snowdonia

Afon Ogwen and Tryfan, Snowdonia

This was the start of the day we took the long ridge walk up Moel Siabod and wanted to get a decent view of Tryfan from ground level, it's such a visually imposing mountain, reminds me of BEM in the Highlands.
We started off on the side of Llyn Ogwen, but after a slow start to the morning light I decided to follow the waterfalls an pick up a different, less imposing view of Tryfan.

I'm quite happy with the end result, this was a very quick composition, as the light faded very quickly, back to black/grey cloud cover.

Shot on a 5D2 with several Lee Filters
