where all the light comes from

where all the light comes from by kinotrope.
vancouver's cityscape is one of much debate... it's a lot like marmite - you either love it or hate it. some hate the uniform, glass buildings that apparently "all look the same".

for me, i just think these people aren't looking close enough (or noticing the right things). i adore vancouver i fell in love with the city of glass and it's naivity and futuristic sense of self. such a young city... and the young are always scorned for their wacky ideas and unusual outlook. vancouver i adore you.

My "gripe" with Vancouver as a town is that there is lots of potential, but it seems most Vancouverites are just happy with leaving it at that. Why potential waste the potential when you can just bask in it's (unfullfilled) glory?

But that is a nice shot, I have some nice ones from the "fog days" I still need to scan.

I like this. It's disturbing, but not in a derogatory sense: it looks 'normal' at first glance but with something not quite right.

The buildings remind me of computer components; your photo has accentuated that.

I agree with you about lots of people taking the city for granted. I'm from a much smaller city with a skyline that isn't much to look at. The glass buildings in Yaletown and False Creek are way better than the decrepit ones I was used to.

I always loved it for its glass too. It is so nice because if there's a bright sunset or sunrise it reflects off the glass buildings and it makes them look like part of the sky.
