Despite Curaçao being part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, it really is Caribbean. As demonstrated by its traditional sweets seen here, which are very similar, and in some cases identical to my native favourites in Trinidad, or other islands!
The coconut based sweet to the front tastes like a slightly less molassesy version of tulum i.e. moist dense sweet made from coconut and molasses that is yummy. As is this antillian version, served on a piece of coconut shell.
Then there is the nut cake (nuts in sugar), fudge the dry lovely way we make it at home, a fruit tart and something in the middle that I am not sure about - it's dry, not very sweet, but nice.
