Another of our pet rats has passed away.
Goethe was certainly Dev's fav boy, and nicknamed our "agout beaut" (brown coloured rats like this are called "Agouti")
He was sick for sometime, though he never showed it until Tuesday where he went from bounding around as usual to very slow and tired. We knew he was due to leave us, and the next morning we found he'd passed in his sleep.

Goethe was 1yr 9months old, and had an unidentified lump in his chest, pushing on his airways and heart, for which we gave him 3 different drugs every night for many months. (The vet would not operate on it, it was either a tumour or an abscess, either way the position of it meant an operation was out of the question) The 2nd x-ray we got in January showed it hadn't shrank at all, we decided to just keep giving him the drugs, hoping it would help. He soldiered on, never showing any distress or hardship (beyond sometimes needing a bit of a rest after chasing his brothers around). He surprised the vet and gave us more months of happiness than any of us might have expected.
We miss him dearly, as do his brothers.
