Fresh & Easy, Alhambra Opening

Fresh & Easy, Alhambra Opening by cheaplander.
Holy cats. I just went to the Fresh & Easy grand opening in Alhambra, CA. I figured I'd be the only one there since it was a weekday at 10am. There must have been 500-600 people there. There was no parking in the lot with cars circling around. I had to park about 3 blocks away.

There was an enormous line to get in and only one doorway. When I did get in, there were so many people inside that no one could move. I dug the selection, some things appear very cheap - others are more expensive. About 75% of product is their "own brand", much like Trader Joes has their own brand of food.

I picked up some items, but I couldn't even find the beginning of the line to pay. It went all the way around the corner to the back of the store. So, I ended up putting the stuff back and just left. I had no idea it would be that crowded - the area has been hurting for a market like this. I'm only surprised it took one of them (fresh&easy or trader joes or whole foods, etc.) so long to build a store here.

I'm gonna go back when it's less crowded. They had coupon books for $5 off of a $20 purchase.
