Lamplit bedroom

Lamplit bedroom by *Susie*.
Our newly redecorated spare bedroom

We had a leaky roof over the summer which meant that the whole room had to be redecorated

Hello Pat, Debbie, Black Box and Sue, glad you approve

Black Box, the bed was a real cheapie that we found on the internet that promised speedy delivery - the previous one was propped up on breezeblocks!

Debbie, here are two rather blurry pix of two of the prints we have hung here:

Hi Susieblue! I think I'd be quite comfy in this room. It's lovely and warm.
ps..I have a bed on blocks now, but only cause Connie and her sisters were all sitting on it. Bam! We had quite a laugh over that.

Hi Elaine, I hope out guests will like it too, in fact we are so taken with it we are thinking of using it ourselves. We got by for several years with the old bed propped up on breezeblocks but redorating gave us the impetus we needed to replace it . Made me laugh to hear about your bed, does Connie have a lot of sisters?

Susie, actually, Connie has 3 sisters but in all fairness her Mom, who is teeny tiny though, and a niece or two were on it. We had all congregated in my spare bedroom looking at photos on the computer (of all things) and of course, I saw a good photo op. I was taking a photo and just wish I could have caugh the expression and laughter on everyone's face at the precise moment we realized what happened.

This is a beautiful, serene shot with that deft touch that is so characteristic of everything you do - the touch of brightness in the bag slung over the foot of the bed! This is a charming shot of a charming and inviting room... so the rain last summer did bring about something pretty and good finally :-)

Lovely --it is hard to beat the blue and white combination for freshness. The multicolored bag is a great touch. I would feel privileged and pampered to be a guest there. But don't panic--I won't be arriving til next week -- I wish !! I love the boat scene and it looks like a clever way to hang the prints--is that a special rail ? Thanks for sharing your home with us !

Penny, thanks for the nice words, it looks a lot nicer now it's been redecorated!

Lenka, the alarm clock is a junk shop find and the alarm certainly doesn't let you sleep in if you've set it!

Zixi, the rain didn't seem like much of a blessing at the time, it took ages to get the roof fixed and we even had a toadstool growing at the junction of the ceiling and the wall for a time! But now the room is finished and we can appreciate that it's an ill wind,,,,

Diana, I'm glad you approve. We have hung some of our favourite prints and watercolours in this room, the Brittany fishing boats are a particular favourite. In the UK many Victorian homes have a dado rail (at waist height) and a picture rail higher up, the picture rail is used to hang pictures from, if you get the hooks that we have used here you avoid the need to make holes in the wall.

Claudia, happy new year to you and thank you so much for your kind words. I will get over to your stream and catch up with you soon.

Glen, I was stunned to get your email and your comment here, this print of your painting is one of my very favourites! When we redecorated the bedroom we kept the colours quite neutral and the furnishings minimal so it would serve as a place to hang our favourite prints and watercolours.

Elaine, yes flickr is amazing but I can't help thinking that the odds of this happening are pretty long even on Flickr!

Hi Bob, I'm basking In your praise. I really hope that you don't trade up, I love that houseboat of yours and one day I am going to find a way of using that wonderful colour combination you have outside by the entrance.

Jen, you will be seeing this room in person in the not too distant future I hope!
