Hi Carole, I knew that you'd like this - and while you may not have a window like this, you work absolute wonders with your little cottage

Hi Bob, I have not had the greatest relationship with this canon and I've been working on it over the summer, so glad you like it!

Well loved place. Have I told you, Sue, that Andy's great parents lived in Christchurch? In 1970s. We visited the town a couple of times, it is still lovely.

Hello Lenka, I think now that you may have mentioned it, it rings a bell - it's exactly the sort of small town that appeals to us both, isn't it? I think it's just about my favourite small town in the UK, I love all the little streets of cottages and the river and the quayside and the priory and the ruins, it just about has everything

Yes, Sue, Christchurch has got it all, the sea is close and the New Forest just round the corner, that is a great choice of a favourite place! I love Saffron Walden, that has got a lot to offer, but the sea is a long way.

Hi Sue-- this is such a treat --love the red and white ! And the generously filled pots tucked in everywhere feels so lush. The large blue pot on the bench looks like lavender--wonderful ! I like the pot filled with pottery and the ornamental metal chair --Lovely and warm place and photo !

You post the most amazing cottage photos and here's the thing...one minute I'm all set to rush out with blue paint to do the window trim and then it's, oh, gosh, it must be buttery yellow and now it's just got to be reddish something or other with hanging things and pots on sills...whew!

thank you all so very much.

Pat, I'm so with you, this is all the garden this cottage has, there was washing strung out across the front of the other side, but they make such wonderful use of this tiny space it always inspires me

Kevboy, I think my camera got a bit of a shock!

Ilja, the results with this camera are still a bit variable but much better than I was getting before.

And Barb, I would never have thought to paint woodwork and sills this colour, I always thought that this sort of hue only looked good in mediterranean countries where the light is harsher but this place always looks amazing even in the depths of a gloomy British winter

Jen, it was your email that got me going again, thanks XX

As you have noticed, this little cottage is on the edge of the road but it's at the end of a very short cul de sac in a quiet area, so it's quite a peaceful location.

*Susie*  Pro User  says:

Hi Saraleeky, I'm glad to hear that this photo inspired you!! The owners of this cottage work hard to keep the display ever changing - I would suggest that you buy good quality plants and put them in a good compost. In hot weather they would probably need watering at least once a day and after a few weks, when much of the goodness in the soil has been used up, you would need to give them a little plant food each week. Good luck!!

thank you Susie. I am living in Taiwan, the subtropical weather. It seems easy to keep green tropical plants grow well but the floral ones. Maybe too hot too much sunshine? I don't know. Plus different flowers different seasons....I mean the season for each kind is very short. keep changing is the key? Perhaps.

*Susie*  Pro User  says:

Sara, the plants featured here are all plants that are happy in our English climate and have a reasonably long flowering season, you will be the best judge of what is best to use - though the possibilities in a subtropical climate must be very interesting.
