On Tuesday September 27, 2011 the Charlotte Fire Department took delivery of the “Pink Lady”. The reserve engine company was repainted pink just in time for the many events that promote breast cancer awareness. Breast cancer has touched the lives of many within the Charlotte community as well as members of the Charlotte Fire Department. This truck, unofficially named “The Pink Lady” is a way of showing solidarity and support for all those who have either directly or indirectly been affected by the disease. “The Pink Lady” made its official debut at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on October 1, and can be seen at many different events over the coming months. The 2001 fire truck used for this initiative is part of the CFD reserve apparatus that is on hold for the Democratic National Convention.
