Where's the fire?

Where's the fire? by charliestyr.

First shot on the Flickr from the Sigma 10-20, I must say, so far, (one and a bit days), I have *really* enjoyed it so far.

It was quite funny as we were wondering down Wall Street suddenly we heard the strangely familiar sound of the HOONNNKKK of the FDNY storming along, two trucks appeared at the blocked end of one street, and these two shown here jumped into the space in front of the Federal Hall, along with a Fire SUV. Firefighters stormed within, only to reappear a few minutes later, and leave.

It was interesting at least, and out of nowhere it seemed, millions of tourists popped out and started taking pictures in front of the firetrucks etc, I honestly felt a little sorry for the firefighters trying to do their job when they're blocked by tourists, but ah well, that's what happens I guess when you work in such a popular city!

Then other weird things happened such as the fact that a video crew were filming some sort of stock footage, and a man with an *obscene* amount of make-up slapped on his face asked us what we were talking about. Strange.

I have many other escapades that I will resist sharing with you until I get to the more appropriate picture for them :-)

Hope you're well,

Charlie -

The Sigma is great isn't it. And it shows how big the buildings in NYC must be. Back in the UK you'll find the sigma fits everything in at 10mm.

Thanks everyone, glad you all like it :-)

@Julian ha ha, I find 10mm is sometimes even too much here, but I just love the feel of the images it produces!

@Mike yep, love it, will definitely be sharing many more with the next load of pictures. I don't usually end up with so many interesting stories on holidays, I think it must be NY as well, just so much going on :-)

@Stacy Nice, I like some of those shots, particularly the candid one of the firefighter looking you right in the lens :-)

I think stories depend partly on what's different, so you get more in new places :) or maybe just as you get older. happy shooting!
