It is odd that most people refer to this book as 'The Origin of Species'. when there is no 'the'and yet 'The Lord of the Rings' is often referred to without the first 'the'...

Thank you Vic Acid, you are right - the publisher of my version must have just been a bit lazy. And you are absolutely right, the timing was perfect. I am remindde that the first two men who tried to even translate the bible into English were killed as heretics.

I've always thought the same thing about both titles. I've seen the title written both ways for Species though.
