The first stop on our South Pacific cruise was Pentecost Island,
Home to the world famous Nagol (or N'gol or about 10 other names it's called) land diving ritual.
What a sight to behold.
The tower is massive 30m+, and no matter how many times they jump, you hold your breath each time.
When we arrived in Pentecost, the tender boats docked in Homo Bay ;-), it rained really heavy for about 2hours and we all had to duck for cover. Being tropical it cleared and the sun came out. It was so humid and muggy that the view finder on my D90 kept fogging up. The native school kids were out in groups singing and we all had a great time. Even went snorkling after the land diving finished.
Single RAW. Adjust and crop on PS CS5.
Taken after the ritual, once the crowds have gone.
I have never seen a palm tree growing out of a coconut before. I picked it up and placed it on a tree stump to give the shot better foreground interest.
This would make a good tilt-shift......
Feedback greatly appreciated.
