einstein

I actually don't know his name but it seemed as good a name as any.

Went for a hike at Afton State Park In Minnesota today and happened along this furry guy on the beach along the St. Croix River. He seemed to me maybe a sheepdog or a labradoodle. Anyone?

I think it's a great photo with fantastic detail and crispness but it feel lacking to me composition wise because of his other ear missing. It's actually almost painful to me to look at in the context of his missing ear.

Great Photo... Love the expression on his/her face.

kirstiecat, thanks for the constructive feedback. Unfortunately, it was the only composition I could go with. There was a baby stroller on the dog's right (camera left) side as well as his family sitting on the beach. This was a one frame shot. I turned around-- the dog looked at me and I snapped. Appreciate the comment! And thanks to all others above too. :)

He looks just like a dog I had growing up, who was a mix of Springer and Cocker Spaniels. I can't tell his (or her) size but the hair has that wet Spaniel curl to it.

love it! did you bring a black backdrop with you?

    25. mosippy (61 months ago | reply)

Lulu, I'm guessing you were joking(?), but just in case, the background is just a shaded area of trees that was about 15 feet behind the dog. Since it would have required much more light (than the dog) to be exposed, it went to black, which I was grateful for. :)

The composition is awesome. I love the fact that you can't see the dog's right ear. It gives a strong sense of a fleeting moment, especially with evidence of the wind blowing, and gives it a poignancy that otherwise would be missing.
