Future Flickrites?
I'd love to see the photo she got!
The joy and wonder of youth—ain't it great? What's even better is that through flickr I've learned that not quite as many people lose those childlike qualities as I previously thought. There's something about photography that keeps a person young at heart.
What do you think it is? Or do you disagree?

Oh I completely agree...I have come to meet so many people here on flickr who have kept some wonderful childlike qualities through their adulthood. I think it makes them so much richer as human beings and when combined with their adulthood makes some beautifully layered photographs.
This is such a beautiful moment you've captured...that human/animal connection. I love that they were taking their own picture.

I love these Zoo children-with-animals photos! Yours however, is very crisp! Looks beautiful! But about the photography keeping one young at heart-I firmly believe that people who take pictures are trying to freeze a beautiful moment-to keep that moment forever... We are sort of modern day hunters, instead of food, hunting beauty..
i'm deleteing my account and making a new one. [deleted] (63 months ago | reply)

Photography is all about exploring. Exploring light, exploring life and exploring (something else that begins with "L" would make this really deep) . When we are young we do a lot of exploring, I agree photography has reawakened a sense of anticipation about the world that I had misplaced for sometime (while I was a grown up).
Great photo. Have you seen the image they got? I'll bet it was even better than yours.

Tamara, Kim, vesma25, BOBX-NC, thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. I agree with all of you. Photography—at least the way we do it—is about exploration and seeing things in a way we probably would have otherwise missed. We are better able to retain our youthfulness than those who don't play with cameras. A great route to peace and happiness, eh?

Brian, the truth of the matter is, photography for me is a passion that I have had since I was a child -- there is something magical about it to me and I think that is what has the effect of keeping me young at heart.

This is a wonderful image -- it says so much in one shot.
BTW, here's a photo of mine that is similar to yours....

There is something so life affirming about the moment when beings reach out to each other beyond fear. The trust and delight of a child must warm all hearts or they are not hearts at all.
