Gravestone at Forest Hill Cemetery for Roy B. Drives, a member of the Madison High School Class of 1917

Because I'm working on a history of Madison [Central] High School I have become familiar with the names of many alumni.

I know that Roy B. Drives was a member of the Madison High School Class of 1917. Beyond that, I know nothing. If you have additional information about this alumnus, please contact me.

Easter Island Sculpture by Sid Boyum

Easter Island Sculpture by Sid Boyum

Located in the playground of Lowell Elementary School, 401 Maple Avenue.

A close friend of Alex Jordan, creator of The House on the Rock, Sid Boyum created scores of sculptures during his lifetime, most of which resided in the back yard of his house on Waubesa Street. After his death in 1991, his son, Steve, donated 60 sculptures to the City of Madison. A dozen have been moved to public locations on Madison's East Side.

For more information about Sid Boyum and his life and work, read the post about him on my blog.
