It's rather amazing that animals can have such tiny brains, and yet be fully capable of doing everything they need to do to live successfully. People, on the other hand, with our big brains, manage to make choices that make a simple life very complicated. When I consider the wildlife I photograph, I often envy them their simple minds and simple lives. All that's expected of them is to feed themselves!
This Great Blue Heron was gazing over the lake, looking for its next
meal, I suppose. Sometimes, though, I wonder if they just like the
view the way I do. My cats will stare out the window, staring at a
full moon for hours. Tigger, in particular, who was an outdoor cat,
seems to reminisce when he does it, and you can almost see the wheels
turning in his little head! I guess they're as capable of enjoying a
beautiful day or night just as well as we are...maybe even more. they
don't agonize over bills or problems. Sometimes I wish I were a
birdbrain, Sometimes I am.
