Red chard

Red chard

This is what comes of taking my camera as well as my shopping bags to the weekly farmers market. :) I didn't buy any of this chard, but it sure was photogenic! I came home with soup veggies, bing cherries, cara-cara oranges, and gloriously fragrant and sweet strawberries, which are locally grown and fragile. (Olympus E-5 & Zuiko 50mm macro, f/11, 1/40 sec., ISO 1600, shade, handheld.)

Raindrops on roses

Raindrops on roses

June 2, 2012 #389 Flickr Explore

The rose garden at South Coast Botanic Garden is a special place after (or even during) rain showers. This bicolored beauty captured on a rainy morning is "Olé," one of my favorites (I also like "About Face," a similarly colored rose). (Olympus E-5 & Zuiko 50mm macro, f/16, 1/100 sec., ISO 1000, partly cloudy/showers, handheld)

Pond mirror

Pond mirror

This idyllic scene is from one of my occasional visits to El Dorado Nature Center in Long Beach, California. The afternoon sun and just a touch of breeze made for impressionistic reflections. (Olympus E-5 & Zuiko 70-300mm zoom at 70mm [140mm in full-frame 35mm equivalent], f/8, 1/160 sec., ISO 320, afternoon sun, handheld) No crop, selectively processed in Topaz Simplify and Topaz Details.

Sunflower tapestry

Sunflower tapestry

From my Memorial Day visit to South Coast Botanic Garden (a warm and beautiful day), when I captured my first sunflowers of the season. As you can see, they grow some gorgeous bicolored varieties at the garden! (Olympus E-5 & Zuiko 70-300mm zoom at 226mm [452mm in full-frame 35mm equivalent], f/8, 1/400 sec., ISO 200, morning sun, handheld) No crop; processed in Topaz Simplify and Topaz Details with texture (Artiste - Autumn Leaves) from Leslie Nicole's French Kiss Textures.

Vivacious poppy

Vivacious poppy

Icelandic poppies like this one are tender, bold, fragile, assertive - a study in contrasts. (Olympus E-5 & Zuiko 50mm macro, f/11, 1/125 sec., ISO 640, open shade, handheld)
