South Manitou Island Light

If you climb the 111 spiral stairs to the top of the 100ft South Manitou Island Lighthouse, you can go onto the observation deck for an incredible view of the island. Then, an additional 6 steps up a ladder lead to a narrow catwalk that encircles the third order fresnel lens. At night, the lens glows like a jewel as casts it's light onto the Manitou Passage.

The lighthouse was originally built with the ability to have a rotating light, but this feature was never used.
