Connecticut Coquina Shell?

    These critters live in Florida and Texas. I've never seen one so far north. This one was at
    Compo Beach in Westport, CT. July of 2006.

    coquina -- a small wedge-shaped clam (Donax variabilis) used for broth or chowder and occurring in the intertidal zone of sandy Atlantic beaches from Delaware to the Gulf of Mexico
