Floating Island
Is it just me, or are there palm trees on that island?
Using the same technique as this one (but these are the true colors).
Now taking reservations for the ferry service.

Great image. Looks like ET coming in for a landing in a wicked spaceship. Talk about your little green men.

my grandmother taught me how to make "floating island" (the dessert). requires floating a meringue on top of a thin custard/pudding. yum. (always did like this shot, btw)

It looked like a different world from the thumbnail. And indeed I found islands and trees when I reached here. Beautifully done. Seen in the Most Interesting pics tagged with a "macro".

ile flottant! elle etais francaise alors?
Non, elle n'est pas francaise... but she is a native of Franco-influenced New Orleans, so this must be cultural "trickle down" (treacle down?).
Hmm, 17 months is a long lag for a comment response (oops).
[Edit: New Orleans related, have I ever mentioned that your Flickr URL, "cdm", makes me think of the coffee I drink every morning?]

aha, that explains the french cuisine!
cdm = coffee? who knew! i was thinking more along these lines.
earth2marsh (68 months ago | reply)
It may be that we're the only family that shortens it to CDM. Must be the Yankee/Rebel duality in our tree!
I enjoyed the ΛCDM link, thanks (and always wondered how DK mapped to CDM). It made me remember an idea that popped into my head over the weekend after listening to In Our Time talk about anti-matter. I was wondering if it was at all helpful to think about Matter/Anti-matter (or Darkmatter perhaps) as Form/Ground? Of course I'm much more of an artist than physicist, not that that says much! ;)
