The one you're looking at is the exact same thing as this one, but split into three rows to get it to have easier to manage proportions and make it easier to see some of the detail at a glance, including the boat at lower left, the lighthouse right in the middle, and the land going up to downtown Provincetown at the top to top-right.
In hindsight, I suppose this is "upside-down", in that -- roughly speaking -- the lower band goes from east to south, the middle band goes from south to west, and the upper band goes from west to north. (Actually, the arc isn't that wide, as the whole range of this photo covers a similar ark from the view in this one, taken a mile or so away, but you get the idea.)
