Chocolate Wedding truffles in a flower pot

This is a yummy white chocolate truffle in a purple flower pot. These were wedding favors with the bride and groom's names printed on the ribbon. Since so many people love these, I have put free detailed instructions here.

This is amazing! Where did you find these adorable truffles?

I made these for a friend's wedding. Ordered the truffles from Moonstruck chocolates (www.moonstruckchocolates.com), and painted flowerpots from Michael's crafts. The ribbon printing was done by running ribbon taped to paper through a laser printer.....then assembly - tons of work but they did turn out cute!

I absolutely ADORE these favors and have my heart set on recreating them down to the last little detail for my May wedding (please take that as the extremely high compliment it's intended as). I've taste tested the truffles (yummy!) and found little terra cotta pots, but since the colors are absolutely perfect for my wedding, I was hoping you might be willing to divulge a couple specific details:

      1) what did you use to paint the pots? do you have the specific product/color info? did you use a clear coat on top? and did you hand paint or spraypaint them?

      2) are the silver cups that the truffles are in the standard candy cup size or smaller?

      3) how did you affix the printed ribbon to the pots? hot glue? and what did you do about where the ends meet? overlap? make a seam with both the ends?

      4) did you use a small or large candy bag to wrap the truffles?

I hope you don't mind me picking your brain. I can't tell you enough how awesome these are. You did such a fantastic job, I can only hope to come close in recreating them. (My family and friends thank you in advance!)

      Thanks!

Thanks for your nice comments!! I am flattered, and am sure yours will turn out beautifully. Here are some details for you:

      1) I used regular acrylic paint (Apple barrel/Plaid brand from Michael's crafts) with a brush to paint the pots, no clear coat. I don't remember the color name but it was their lavender shade.

      2) The cups look silvery in the picture, but were actually the regular standard brown candy cups.

      3) I used rubber cement to affix the ribbon to the pots, to get a smooth adhesion. You can actually paint the cement on several ribbons at a time and they're easier to stick on after they're slightly dry. I cut the ribbon so the ends would meet exactly & lie flat.

      4) I used a small cello bag-the crinkly kind. I cut them down in height a little before stuffing them. Then I put the truffle in, folded the sides behind the truffle & might have even used tape on the back to hold. Then tied the ribbon on, and pushed gently into the pot.

Good luck to you and congratulations on your wedding!!

Thank you so, SO much for sharing this info with me. I can't tell you how excited I was to see your comment! My fiance and I were at the craft stores this week trying to guess which paint products would work best on the pots just in case I didn't hear back from you. It's a tremendous relief not to have to guess!

I'm really looking forward to putting these together - they're a fabulous idea and you executed it beautiful. Thanks again for the help!

very cute! how did you center the ribbon on the paper to know where it would print, and also, did you tape the ribbon lengthwise? never thought of doing that myself

    16. cc_ryder65 (39 months ago | reply)

      Very carefully ;)

I printed the text on the paper first, then put the ribbons on top of the text (best done on a light table), then taped the ribbon at each end length-wise, then ran through the laser printer again. There is definitely some trial and error involved here, but worth it once you get a system down!

Also, for anyone who decides to try this, I used rubber cement to affix the ribbons to the pots in this picture, but over time found it easier to use spray adhesive since it is more easily re-positionable than rubber cement.

Beautiful. I might do something like this for a garden party this summer. Maybe I'll add a little flower ribbon.
