It's A Matter Of Perspective

Very strong!
It's A Matter Of Perspective by Cayusa.
Week 18, Assignment 2 for Take A Class With Dave And Dave.

Perspective - Things that are close are big. Things that are far away are little. Yes -- that's an over-simplification. But you get the idea, right?

Very very little photoshop here. I had to tweak Kathy's feet a bit due to how Savanah was holding her hand, but the illusion was created using perspective rather than photoshop. Kathy is actually standing on the hill in the background and Savanah is standing about 4 feet away from the camera.

When we were given the perspective assignment I knew right away I wanted to do something like this and I am really pleased with how it turned out.

Yeah, I figured people would look at it and think Photoshop, which is why I emphasized that there was only the tiniest bit at Kathy's feet. Giving directions to a 5 year old who isn't at all sure what she is doing was difficult to say the least. The bottoms of Kathy's pants were photoshoped over her thumb which I couldn't get her to put down to save my life.

There is still time! LOL

Thanks!

Woo Hoo, another fish!

If you only knew how true that is! Thanks and I think you've just inspired another concept. Now I just have to figure out how to do it.

All you need is a hill and two willing participants :)

Thanks!

It should be doable on a much smaller scale as long as the objects you are using are different enough in scale to make the illusion workable.

Bravo! I considered something like this, but I don't have kids to use as models, and my wife avoids the camera like the plague.

You've gotta write me back on this one. Why is the light hitting both people from two different directions. Honestly, there has to be more photoshop here then what you're implying.

Cayusa  Pro User  says:

Honestly, the only photoshop done to this picture was exactly what I said. The reason that it appears as if there are two light sources is due to a tree that is just off the left of the shot that is blocking direct sunlight on Savanah. Kathy is beyond the tree and is highlighted by the sun. Savanah is lit only by the ambient light available during the afternoon.

You can see the light differences in this shot of the lawn and you can see the same lighting effect on the two of them in this failed shot of the two of them.
