Farpoint Friends

Day 45 of 365 (Year Three)

I spend the day at the Farpoint Convention today. The day started a bit early for me (8:30 AM), but at least it was for a good reason. Mike and Steve had arranged an interview with Alan Tudyk (of Firefly and Serenity fame), some excerpts of which will appear on a few podcasts. I was there as the sound guy (I held a damn boom mic), but it was rather cool getting to meet him. He is a hell of a nice guy.

The main reason I was there was to help out at our booth, but Steve over booked us and that allowed for a lot of free time, which was fine with me. I was able to sit back, relax and just enjoy the con. We basically took over one of the tables in the lobby and hung out there all day. We were close enough to the booth in case we were needed, but far enough away that we could have our own fun.

Clark stopped by our "fun table" for a bit. Clark has been a contact of mine here on Flickr for quite some time and I got to meet him in person for the first time last year at Shore Leave. He is also friends with Heather, who I have known for quite some time.

I know I am posting this late, but after a sixteen hour day at the con, I was a bit worn out. While a sixteen hour day is nothing at Dragon*Con, Farpoint isn't Dragon*Con. It is a lot of fun, but it is just so much smaller. I also don't start my day at Dragon*Con at 8:30 in the morning.

Even though it is a lot smaller than Dragon*Con, though, I still had a lot of fun.
