I set out to document life in North Beach, a vibrant suburb of San Francisco. Beginning at 4am on Friday I would spend the next 24 hours walking the streets viewing how the day transitions. From dead of night to people waking, joggers, business people, tourists, lunch time, evening festivities and dying down again. The light changes, the people change, I change. It was an exhausting exercise and a challenge for me to maintain awareness. I should have used a pedometer as I walked all day and by the end I was drained, who knows how many miles I traveled between The Transamerica Building and St. Peter and Pauls Church. I took over 1400 images and here are 310 which give an overview of this project. I kept them in colour as it's a colourful section of San Francisco. Some are quick snaps, some are artful and many raise questions. This project was for me but I hope others can look at the images and get something from it. I hope you will ask questions of me.
