Rose Meets The Simpsons

The Simpsons is an animated sitcom created by Matt Groening for the Fox TV network. It's a satirical parody of a middle-class, dysfunctional, American family, the Simpsons: Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. They live in the fictional town of Springfield.

Homer's ubiquitous catch phrase, "D'oh," was added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2001 without the apostrophe. The spoken word "D'oh" is a trademark of 20th Century Fox.

The Simpsons has won 24 Emmy Awards, 26 Annie Awards, and a Peabody Award. It is the longest-running American sitcom, the longest-running American animated program, and the longest running American primetime entertainment series.

Time magazine's December 31, 1999 issue named The Simpsons the 20th century's best television series.

The show was broadcast in SDTV 480i (1989–2009) and HDTV 720p (2009–present).

On January 14, 2000, The Simpsons' star was added to the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 7021 Hollywood Blvd.

The Simpsons is broadcast in English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Arabic, Catalan, French, Ukrainian, and Russian.

It is broadcast in the United States, Canada, China, Bulgaria ("Семейство Симпсън"), the Czech Republic ("Simpsonovi"), Finland ("Simpsonit"), Hungary ("A Simpson család"), Italy ("I Simpson"), Japan, Poland ("Simpsonowie"), Sweden, and the Ukraine.

Groening desperately wants to stop but they keep throwing so much money at him, he can't. Won't. Who says Fox is too big?

I went to the San Diego Comic Con a few years ago and was browsing through the very crowded comics dealers section. The little guys, (the real comics guys) always get shoved into small rows while the game and film companies get gallons of room to display nothing.

Anyway, I'm elbowing my way through a sea of rank humanity and I notice that wherever I go, some guy seems to keep following. After a while, it starts to bug me. When I finally look up at the guy, I realize it's Matt Groening.

I lost him shortly after that, with slick ninja moves that are known to very few. Still, it creeped me out. He was probably just following the fetid tide of Comic Con, but what if he was planning to kill me...

Pete Zarria — Have you ever seen any of his "Hell" books? The "Hell" books pre-date The Simpsons.

Jibby! — Glad to see you escaped harm!

Quay Bell — I didn't get a shot of Lucille Ball's star, but I will next time I go there. The kids and I want to go back to Hollywood Blvd on a Friday or Saturday night when things get really weird.

Lucy has two stars, one for motion pictures at 6436 Hollywood Blvd, and one for television at 6100 Hollywood Blvd. Desi Arnaz (Ricky) has one for motion pictures at 6325-1/2 Hollywood Blvd, and one for television at 6254 Hollywood Blvd. William Frawley (Fred) has one for motion pictures at 6322 Hollywood Blvd and Vivian Vance (Ethyl) has one for television at 7000 Hollywood Blvd.

Maggie Roswell was my neighbor as a kid, she's a day younger than I (11/14/52).
Her brother Mark once won on the "Dating Game" TV show..and managed the group that got a gold record for the one hit wonder "Baby Come Back". Lucy Arnaz (see above comment) went to high school with Maggie, at Immaculate Heart HS, about two miles from here. Her mom & dad's studio, DesiLu Pictures, is still about 2 miles south of here.
