60BoS: my first three blocks

so i piece together a large (fat quarter sized?) patchwork of scraps and then slice off strips to make into the blocks. because i had one of these ready to go, it was rather quick to make up three new blocks today.

now it's time to piece more scraps...

thanks, folks! it's easy to do the log cabin steps, so i can turn out the blocks quickly once the scrappy patchwork is put together.

brilliant idea! So much better than fussing with 1" squares.

  32. cauchy09 (35 months ago | reply)

really? i actually think this is way more labor-intensive.

  33. davenjilly (35 months ago | reply)

it is more labor intensive in the making-of-the-scrap-fabric sense, but not in the having-to-piece-a-million-one-inch-squares-pe rfectly sense. I think it would be a lot more fun.

    Looks awesome, in any case.

  34. Jocelyn_ (35 months ago | reply)

@davenjilly try piecing a variety of 1.5" x 9" lengths of scraps, & then slice them into strips 1.5" strips. Great time saver and if you use the same 'batch' for both scrappy sections there won't be any repetition.
