Zimos (Saints Row 3)

Zimos (Saints Row 3)

Stuck at home sick today. So it seems fitting to pass the time with a little sick humor. And there isn't much in the video game world these days more sick and wrong than Saints Row: The Third (NSFW video warning).

He's not perfect, and won't be unless I decide to customize him and come up with a jacket for him, but it's striking just how close you can get using only purist parts. It's like those Brick Daddy parts were made for him.

Best character in the Saints Row series. Ever.

Samantha Carter (Stargate SG-1)

Samantha Carter (Stargate SG-1)

The vest is a modified version of my minifig-scale SG-1 tac vests, slimmed down a bit for a minidoll. The rest is maybe an hour of painting.

I declare win.

Now that's more like it.

Now that's more like it.

Because girls with miniguns are AWESOME.

I'm very pleased with both the length (almost identical to the original arms, as the previous photo shows) and the gaps between the hands and the arms (which are only slightly larger than the usual seams). Once the arms are painted as if they're the sleeves of a shirt, the gaps will largely disappear in the illusion of being sleeve "cuffs".

If only hinging the legs individually were this easy. I think I have an idea for that, though; I need to get more trouser bottoms. I find I actually like Olivia's better than the token dude's--her bloused cuffs have a very "paratrooper" feel to them, and allow for better delineation of the "boots".

Wrist articulation: achieved

Wrist articulation: achieved

Obviously this is a first attempt; subsequent ones can and will be cleaner. But I think it looks pretty damn good. And it works great.

I cut the peg off a flesh minifig hand and attached a tiny length of paperclip. That goes into a hole drilled in the arm. It's reasonably snug and won't fall out or flop around, but it can be pulled out easily, allowing them to be swapped.

I think for this one I'll do the other arm and call it good, then paint. I'll tackle the legs another time.

BA "jungle camo" swirl

BA "jungle camo" swirl

I picked these up today while at the shop. Will has been experimenting a lot with mixing different colors while injecting, and some of the recent combinations have been pretty cool. These swirls appear to be black or dark green mixed in with a lighter OD green. The effect is unpredictable, but striking.
