Ninth grade

Ninth grade by catiecake.
Look at that feathered hair. The color is from the wonderful product, Sun In.

Aw...the magic of Sun In.

Remember when people would "spike" their hair by cutting a strip on the top down to about a 1/2 inch?

Am I talking crazy here or are you with me? Someone must remember.

Leah, did you use the Sun In? It made such a nice orangey glow of brown hair.

I totally remember the whole short spikey thing. It looked real nice.

You had much better results with Sun-In than I did.

I still use sun-in on my hair, but mine goes blonde. I use it now to HIDE THE GRAY.

SUN IN WORKS FOR YOU? That's just wrong. Also- I didn't know a person could still buy Sun In.

I couldn't afford the salon anymore and since my arm hair is blonde, my stylist suggested I try sun-in again... so that's what I do. every month or so I spray some in before I go to the farm. I'm so cheap.

I was SO about the sun-in. But then a friend of mine told me if you rubbed lemon juice on your hair it lightened it even more. I didn't believe her, so I squeezed a lemon onto a strip of hair (as one does) and fell asleep on the deck. I had that blonde strip for the next 2 years.

Styro- congratulations on that.

Lemons bleach freckles, too. Although not for very long.

My mom used to put lemon juice on my hair when I was little. The thing is, my hair was quite blond when I was little, so I don't know why she bothered. I can remember having to sit out in the yard and wait for it to do its thing and not having any interest in how bleachy my hair got. Kind of like now! Much to my mom's chagrin, I'm sure.

I can't believe no one has commented on the interesting way in which the edges of this photo were cut... Did you use those scissors used for sewing patterns? I can't remember what they're called.

Pinking shears and yes I did. I also got in trouble for using them on account of the fact they were my mom's and very expensive.

oh catiecake, I did sun-in. If there was an embarrassing/unfortunate trend in the 80s....you can be assured I was on board. And, unlike stryo, mine went pure orangey....which was lovely with my frosty blue eyeliner and blusher stripes.

I don't believe I was allowed to use Sun-In. I remember wanting to try it but knowing I couldn't, so it must have been banned. MsMinired was the youngest, so she was allowed to do any damn thing she wanted, apparently.

*not really bitter*
