Fireworks over Hereford

Fireworks over Hereford by cathjoll.
My first attempt at photographing fireworks, so nothing spectacular yet.

We celebrate Guy Fawkes and the gun powder plot on the 5th November every year. A huge bonfire is burned with an effigy of Guy himself in the midst of it and fireworks are set off to represent the explosion that might have happened if he had not been caught in the act of trying to blow up the houses of Parliament all those years ago.

This years fireworks display was this evening, on Halloween, as the 5th November falls on a Thursday and the council likes the display to take place on a weekend so that families and children can attend without worrying about getting up for work or school the next day.

This picture was actually taken from on top of the multi storey car park in town, looking towards the racecourse.
