So.

I had this shot all lined up.

Pillows were laid on the bottom floor by the stairwell, a damask cloth was found. Fishing line was tied to the porcelain bride. Her veil was arranged just so and she was dropped from the balcony so I could take a picture of her free fall. Ten trial runs and it was perfect. So I got my assistant to "toss" her. What I meant was "drop" her. But tossed she was. Hit the railing she did. Broke into bits she is,

Pieces of porcelain everywhere. A cranky photographer. An assistant saying "what should I do?"

"Get something for me to put the pieces in," I said, mumbling apologies to the doll gods and the bride's head which was in my left hand, sheared from her body in one clean break.

A pitcher was brought.

And lemons turned to lemonade.

No free falling bride doll (what a shot that was going to be!) but a bride's head in a pitcher.

A pitcher of the bride, as it were.

Turned out to be one of my favorite things ever and one of the first things I "showed" to anyone.
