This shot - or one near to it on the roll, is shown at this location in my stream and really illustrates well the difference between a shot prepped for print and one prepped for the web. This, of course, is the high resolution print image (or a web representation of it) and the other is a "saved for web" image without any color correction.

This one was featured on Day In The Life back when they were allowed to be DITL.

	Catherine Jamieson says: Jayjuice: the big difference is in how they are reduced. A web image is displayed at X (72) DPI - regardless of how many DPI you have set for print resolution. A 1000 DPI image will look the same on the screen as a 100DPI, basically. Printing is another matter. Ack ... there are so many ways that I treat them differently (for instance, I reduce the yellow factor in web images 20% more than in print images). I reduce web images by a straight out reduction in pixel length or width while for print images I reduce by DPI resolution factor in degrees/stages. Mostly I think it's that I work with print images in their raw state, at their full size and it can take a long time to fix minor flaws or color correct when you're working with a 8-10 megapixel image. For the web the first thing I do is make the thing a size I can work with in full zoom. Posted 39 months ago. ( permalink )

AND although I have not yet answered (I am BAD BAD BAD with email) it you said one of the best things to me that I have ever heard. She said at the end, folks, "I want to get good. Fast. " I loved that. I read it out loud to my daughter. I told a friend on the phone! Sounded SO much like me, like emails I sent when I was getting into it :) Sorry to have not answered ... I can get terribly behind in mail, I am afraid. But I wanted to tell you do just keep doing what you're doing, what I did: 1. Ask the questions 2.
