Thanks! I've been working on some lighting
ideas - I like to experiment with light a lot
and figure I have the world's largest
collection of light bulbs :)

This is nice. The light is good.
You say you have the largest collection of
light bulbs. Do you use gels much???

No, not much - I use chiffon scarves a lot,
tho :)
Seriously - I'm like a eccentric nut-case
with lighting. I have flash lights and mini
halogens, fluorescent tubes and standard
reflective lights - I hardly ever use
straight up "photographic lighting"
for this kind of stuff.
I work with gels with portraits sometimes.

I like the way you think when it comes to
lighting. I know a lot photogs don't like to
divulge their secrets, so this may be a bad
idea, but I (as well as others, I'm sure)
would love to see snapshots of your set ups.
I think it would give a lot of people a
sense of confidence that don't have
"real" studio lights and are
intimidated by lighting. Because your the
"pro" in the group it would show
that you don't always need softboxes and
strobes to pull off something cool.
Maybe you've already done this. I dunno...

Hey Joe, you're in luck. It's all in the next
book! (Oh how I love that book.)
Catherine, these are so cute! Do you have
little cardboard penguins to go with them?

Heh - I dug them out of the prop room last
night :) They were hiding right under your
eyes.
No, but I do have a plastic bride and groom
that I was thinking of using :)

CJ, You need to give Charlie a raise or
something for the way she swooped in and
promoted the next book like that....
I mean, you can't teach promo skills like
that :)

The lighting is delightful -- love the photo,
makes me smile for some reason. (Maybe it's
because: "All dressed up and no place
to go" keeps popping into my head, heh.)

LOL - she's actually been excited about the
portrait photography book since we started
working on it - which is pretty darn cool
considering she's read it a thousand times :)
Charlie's the coolest, no doubt about it.
I'm a lucky woman, I tell you.

That book diminishes me into a lovesick pile
of geeky photography goo. I simply cannot
help it!

I wonder if those tuxedo guys could take on
the Queen of Hearts' army!? Now there's a photo.

I saw this on the blog, but didn't get a
chance to comment. I absolutely love this
shot! My son is in the Men's Formalwear
Business (aka knows tuxes!) This is so whimsical. I love it!
