pinhead![]() ![]() Acupuncture needles to help clear my fuzzy kimo brain.
ACUPUNCTURE The life force or healing force is called Qi (pronounced chee) and flows through a system of twelve major pathways or meridians. Each meridian is connected internally to a specific organ such as the lung, spleen, etc. The acupuncture points along these pathways on the surface of the skin can therefore be used to affect a corresponding internal organ. These acupuncture points can be measured as areas of higher electrical skin conductance. The qi in the meridians is balanced, resulting in a state of ease, and well-being. From a western perspective acupuncture increases blood flow to speed healing, and stimulates hormonal changes such as increasing the bodies natural pain modulators (endorphins). Do the needles hurt? Not really, although sometimes you feel a sharp scratch but no discomfort. Does acupuncture work? It does for me! Having done kimo both with and without, I definitely find it easier with acupuncture treatments. But maybe I'm just lucky that I haven't sufferent seriously bad side effects - yet! I (sort-of) understand the principle behind acupuncture but don't know the specifics. (how) Do you reckon you benefit(ted) from it? (Open-minded question)
