I Walk Everywhere on My Hands

Her Favourite Worded Tokens: pages from an altered book

coffee, ink, and watersoluble colored pencils

This page probably came together the easiest. I started with the two found poems and the fingerprint grid at the bottom. Next I dyed the pages with a slurry made from instant coffee and water, taking care not to get any inside the fingerprint grid. I used a dye ink pad to do my finger and hand prints and watercolor pencils to darken the areas arond the selected text.

Found Poem 1

seven long years have

the saddest sense

to find a brief oblivion

I fled from the world

and tasted happiness

Found Poem II

Do not banish

a heavy shadow

a mute

Give me my spirit

the last glimmer

(The title comes from a line in a Belly song, Judas My Heart.)
