i'm reminded of the Twilight Zone episode where the beautiful woman is on a world where her looks are considered hideous & the doctors tried their best to "cure" her of it, but to no avail...

There is that kind of look there retro-dad.

Hey Jessie (did I spell it right, or is it Jesse?) Anyway, today this nurse would be elevated to doctor on looks alone. Interesting how she looks more like a model than a nurse. Look at those puckered lips. And perhaps she is musing about the other nurse pictured stealing her man (the doctor). This picture does conjure up a soap opera, say "General Hospital," and that may be why she appears so flawless.

Yes your right about Jessie, I think it's a very wistful look. She is thinking:
I could be on flickr talking to all those nice people instead of this humdrum hospital.

It looks very unusual for a WW2 recruitment poster - much too glamorous and not austere enough. Looks more like a book cover but maybe times had moved along since the 1940’s? When I was an Information Officer way back in 1989 working at publicity & recruitment for the Royal Navy such an image would not have done. We were always seeking to recruit RN nurses back then.

Hi Stu, this is a reproduction and supposed to be like the real thing.
The connection below is maybe more along the lines you did.

Hi Jessie. Thank you for that link. More like it indeed with the emphasis on the careers rather than personal glamorisation. Stuart.

Hi Star1950, all.
I'm interested in using this image in a project. Who owns the copyright or is it public domain at this stage?
Thankyou!
