we have this too! Great toy!

The quilt's new owner, four-and-a-bit months old, checking out mum's handiwork. The quilt IS square, honest -- it just kept getting bunched up by eagerly grasping little hands, so it looks a little wonky.

I love this quilt! It's my favorite color and the variety of square sizes is more enjoyable than a structured checkerboard pattern. The baby was an excellent addition. For some reason his red outfit draws my eye to that small, reddish pattern by his right hip. :D

Thank you! I love the pseudo-randomness of the pattern too -- it really makes your eye move round the quilt. I think that's what drew me to this pattern, even though for a first attempt at quilting it was probably a little ambitious! The choice of a red outfit was completely accidental, but I agree that it seems to work -- it contrasts so vibrantly with the blues, it makes them really sparkle.

Thank you all so much for your kind words. Much to my delight, the baby seems to really like it -- there has been much scritchy-scratchy feeling of all the seams, and he falls asleep clutching the fuzzy border. Makes all the hard work seem worth it :)
