Yes, the ruins. The park used to be
surrounded by one long wall covered with
artwork, but that wall was illegally
demolished by real estate developers earlier
this year. For more details, see the Belmont Art Park website.
[edit: as of January 2007, the above
website is now defunct. See Amy McKenzie's site for photo archives of the location.]

wow, that's really cool! sounds about
right-maybe 8 pieces, tags each year for
about 25 years along the length of all those
walls. too bad they're almost completely
gone. now's the last chance to see the
remnants...

Is there anyway to still get another fragment
or is it completely destroyed now?

I guess you could stop by there and dig
through the rubble. But I didn't see a lot
of paint fragments laying around last time I
was there (a couple of months ago)-- it was
mostly dirt and concrete. This piece was one
that Amy picked up earlier this year, very
shortly after the illegal demolition
happened.

Amazing to see all those layers and to think
how each is a such a small part of so many
pieces of art.

Sadly, the Belmont Art Park website is now
offline. :-(
But it looks like Amy McKenzie's site is still up! You can find her Belmont Art
Park photo archives here. I'll go ahead and fix the links in the
captions above.

but I bet theres a museum out there that

There was a railroad trestle near my home
town that was painted like this. I was told
one local artisan would collect fallen paint
chips, some almost an inch thick, and then
manage to carve and polish them into jewelry.
