Concrete View

Concrete View by Coach Cassandra Rae.
I just love that we have enough sense to plant and nurture flowers within our concrete jungles. Within the next 24 hours, go for a walk and intentionally notice all the beauty in your neighborhood.

Now isn't that a great representation of the 2 opposite types of people we so often see in a relationship: the liberal, open and extroverted type, and the stodgy closed introverted type. My parents are like that. My dad is the closed, expressionless (not entirely, of course) one who doesn't say much and my mom is the open expressive type who never shuts up.

I just saw the movie Wall-E, which makes the same point. I loved the movie.

Oh, that's a neat observation, Phoenix! I'm totally extroverted and my hubby is introverted. We find that it's a nice combination for us. But, we also intentionally set aside to connect to make sure that we're both receiving what we need from life because it can be so easy to get out of balance.

I liked Wall-E too. To me, it seemed like it was more about people getting lazy through automation....to the point where they actually stopped thinking for themselves. Powerful message, eh?!

That kind of matching makes sense, providing the couple makes time for themselves, as you and your husband do.

I didn't do that at my last job, and I paid a very dear price for it. Now that I'm aware of it, I make sure I have some alone time. For my morning and afternoon snacks, I go into my office ( I work in a noisy lab with people contsantly talking) and close the door. For lunch, I eat alone. The rest of the time I'm interacting with others or surrounded by people who are constantly talking, which is very exhausting for me.

And it works great ! I certainly feel less tired at the end of the day, even though it's still not enough alone time to fully compensate for the chatter and interaction I deal with in the day.

The Wall-e message is indeed powerful. I could relate so much to Wall-e's shyness and much of his character. I loved the part where he and Eve are watching the fire, and he inches sideways towards her.

I've heard of it, and recommended it to a friend, but I haven't had the chance to read it yet.

Thanks for bringing it up. Another one on my TODO list. :)
