Can anyone identify the species? It was taken in an estuary south or Arrawarra, New South Wales, Australia.

Hi CH,
it is not a water or shorebird but and AUSTRALIAN MAGPIE. They are not related to the true magpies of the crow family. Note the wig shape and distinctive colouring.
