The New Acropolis museum opened in 2009 and is home to most of the Acropolis finds. The space, with its meticulous use of glass, light and materials pays homage to the past in a new modern form.
The top floor is oriented so that the Parthenon pieces align with its original temple upon the Acropolis. The museum has been filled with controversy ranging from demolition of historic facades to fear of cohesion within the environment. Despite the drama, this new gem, represents hope for the city and country:
"When the museum gets built, the marbles will come back. There is no question about it," - Bernard Tschumi (Architect)
Now it is up to the international court battles, to see if other museum around the world will return their Acropolis collections back to its origins.
