During a recent snow storm, I found myself in Downtown Chicago battling the elements. Happily, I had my camera with me because nights like this are rife with photo opportunities.

Even though I see this fellow every day, I only occasionally think to photograph him. With diffused winter light, patches of snow, and dead tendrils all around it was a perfect day to make a shot.

Sometimes photo walks amount to very little. Other times, they yield a good amount of pretty decent opportunities. Sometimes, however, you run across a scene like this.

While walking around the downtown square in Woodstock, IL, we found this little gem of a scene. The doll was just entangled in the brambles of a post-holiday street display. I had to grab several shots and this was one.

Although the rest of the day produced nothing much else in terms of interesting opportunities, when gold strikes, it can be counted a good walk.

So on Christmas Day, we were visiting our friends. Their college aged son, Ian, said he was excited by something he found at the store recently: a brown Bic lighter. "So what," my wife and I said. "They are the rarest of Bic lighter colors. Check the Internet!" It would seem there is quite the buzz about the brown Bic. Fast forward to New Year's day. My wife and I were in a Walgreens. While waiting in line at the checkout, I happened to look down at the bin full of Bics...and there it was, sitting right on top: a brown lighter. So, YOINK, I grabbed it and back in the car my wife and I made this pic to send to Ian.
