Feed the hyaena: that's mine
Harar, the famous walled city in eastern Ethiopia. Once an important independent Moslem city, home for a time of the French poet Rimbaud, it was captured by Menelik II. A continuing local tradition is the evening feeding of local wild hyaena.

Interesting photo of a MUSLIM feeding a wild, carrion-eating DOG.
The Salafists/Wahabbis would consider it an honour/duty to cut off this guy's head.
Sorry, it sounds harsh, I know.
But someone had to point out the contradiction in this man's faith/actions.
Again, an interesting photo.
Thanks for posting it.

Interesting post - thanks. It is very much a tradition in Harar, which I think is still dominantly Moslem. Feeding the hyaena was explained to be a local tradition and I am not sure it has anything to do with the religion of the inhabitants

Maybe you are confusing this man's faith with the Arabs tradition of hating everything. There are a lot of Hyaenas in Hararghe region so we do not need to justify this practice. He is Muslim from Ethiopia and it is ok to participate in cultural practices of our country. The Arabs can enforce their hostile culture in their own region/country. This is a traditional practice of the people of hararghe region who happened to be Muslim by faith.

Thank you for the clarification.
I have amended my description above to make it clear that this is a local cultural practice (as you say because of the hyaena population).
