Please view these photos as a set. I tried to capture different aspects of the New Orleans landscape today, from successes to frustrations, devastation to beignets. The city goes on, especially the tourist district, and I encourage you to go there, have a good time, and spend a lot of money, but the level of governmental neglect and general sorrow astonished me.

An nice shot. Perhaps, my favorite of the
series. That said the sneaker looks too
posed/fake to me.

Alex, thank you. I agree that the shoe was
placed so perfectly it looks like I staged
it, but trust me, I didn't touch *anything*
in the wreckage.
A hurricane happened to that bus.

sheesh! The cleaning up looks like it's
going to be a slow but steady process. Nicely
photographed.

congrats on this set. you have done a great
job making sure that we all know that this
situation hasn't gone away. it is so
important to continue to show the public that
even though bourbon street is open there is
still unimaginable damage and repair to be
done!

@carpe: I wasn't implying that the shot was
staged. It's just that I have seen a number
of similar (the shoe part) photos taken after
bomb blasts. Anyhow, excellent shot.
Was this part of an assignment or just a
personal project?

Again a very catching, yet disturbing, image.
Well done, Ryan, well done.

Simple yet effective. This lonely shoe gives
back the essence best I think.

Okay, this one comes across a bit too
spectacular for me. My faves are the bible
sign with the rescue tags that gives a very
small hint to what rescue work in the middle
of chaos must be like, and of course the
piano with the rotten notes and the drum
lying in the corner in the background.

Powerful work @carpeicthus. I have a friend
that spent several months working down there
helping with cleanup and she said it was
pretty insane.

We'd love if you would consider adding your

look at the group page there are a number of
stipulations that must be followed for the
