Rolled Oats Heart
Okay, this is an official shout-out to 365ers... suggest to me some ideas for future photographs! But not self portraits. Ta! I love the whole concept of the project, but I'm currently not finding it at all fun since I have no ideas for shots and I inevitably put it off until the last minute of the day. *Sigh*. Anyway, here, have some oats in the shape of a heart. Food shots and things in the shape of hearts is the way forward unless you inspire me! :)

Nice shot.
I am feeling the same as you about the project at present. Whenever I am at a loss I either take a look through the various challenges and ideas in the discussion forums, or I switch to the sort of shot like you have done here which is absolutely fine and dandy. I actually really enjoy taking an every day household item and trying to shot it in an interesting way, or simply just trying to take a quality shot of it.
Sorry, I know I have not given you a single idea here, but like I said, I am having the same problem as you at the moment.

Hi Chris! Yeah, I know the forums are there, but I keep forgetting about them! Maybe now is the time to take a peek! My problem is that I spend five out of seven days at home and there's little else interesting here to photograph! I can hear people saying, 'Go somewhere interesting...', but when you live in the middle of nowhere and petrol is at £1.20 a litre, you can't be frivolous and fancy free, not even for Flickr (could I get any more 'f's into that last part?!!) Others might say, 'Take a walk down the roads near your house...', but seriously, the results would be dull! Ah well, I've got work on Monday and Tuesday and a trip to Norwich for an interview on Wednesday... maybe things will pick up! Good luck to you too :)
Simon, if I decided to photograph people in the street here in Lincolnshire, there would be three responses. Firstly, the normal people will have my response of 'Oh my God, are they the police? Or are they scary stalker people? Oh my God, will I be on Flickr in a group called 'Fashion disasters, let's point and laugh'?' and they will hurry away, maybe crying. Secondly, they'll cross the road, swearing at me, and will duff me up*. Thirdly, they'll go 'What's in that box? It's making a noise. It's captured my image! It's witchcraft! Burn the witch who traps people in her little box of magic!'. It is Lincolnshire, after all ;)
* That's 'duff me up' as in punch me, not 'get me duffed up', which is something else all together!

Well this is very inspired! The chocolate must be working! :)
I must admit, when I'm stuck for stuff to shoot, I usually play the alphabet game. What I mean is, I pick a subject, say, animals, and then think of animals with names beginning from A-Z. I then pick another subject, say, electrical equipment, and make another A-Z list. You then only need to think of subject areas that you know you can fulfil - for instance - if you're in the house, you could pick kitchen, bathroom, bedroom etc. as subject areas, and think of A-Z lists for each area. It seems to work for me anyway - it's how a lot of my flickr sets originated!

Hmmm inspiration seems to be a constant battle on the 365 journey. I keep a list in my phone of ideas when they come to me or when I see other people doing great work. Here's a few from my list:
Inverted reflections are always fun if you have an expanse of still water around you somewhere? The stiller the better so you cant really tell it's a reflection.
Jump shots, try jumping somewhere, maybe just show your legs if you don't want to be in the shot yourself.
Try and empasize some motion by using the zoom and a slowish shutter to create a speed effect.
Textures and layers in photoshop seem to work for a lot of people, my attempts have been rudimentary and I spend more time in photoshop than I do taking the photo, but it's all good experience/fun.
Try "out of focus" as a theme, maybe a blurred protrait or something that has bold shapes and colours so you can still identify what it is.
Try "free spanning" take two photos so one photo "speaks" to the other in some way, maybe someone handing something from one photo to another, you could take two photos or just cut up a single shot. A Dyptych or Tryptych is another more conventional option.
funny faces on eggs in a box will always work this time of the year. (Hey I never claimed they would be original)
Simulate a photobooth, if you don't want to be in it yourself use a toy or bear or something else.
I've got an idea I want to do an action shot with some silly string but not sure how that's going to work out yet. Maybe photoshop my finger out so that it looks like it's spraying itself?
Like I said they're not all original but If any of them prove useful then I guess it's been a help!

WOW! Some of those ideas are definitely go-ers! I love the free-spanning idea, and the silly string one. Fancy free-spanning some silly string with me?!! Hehehe. Thanks again, they're definitely worth further investigation :D

I am exactly on the same boat, there aren't enough hours in the day to go out in the evening and scout after work so been having to look around the house. With the days getting longer it should help to get shots from outside. I normally browse through my contacts and see what they're upto and look at some groups.
