Business Class - Air Canada 773
Ok I don't know what I was thinking considering I was holding my D70 in one hand and here I am alone and not bothered but taking a picture of Air Canada's business class with my 2MP cell phone camera..... air travel fatigue I guess...oyiee... but still you can make it out.. kinda nice and making me wish I had spent some time up here..

Are the seats at an angle? Do they swivel so you can catch the view without straining your neck?

Interesting seat arrangement. Great privacy if you're traveling alone, but if you're not it would make conversation with your travel partner rather difficult.

Debarka Banik - I really don't know, I didn't pass through here during the flight. I asked myself the same question when I first saw a photo of this section on airliners.net. I suspect they don't swivel.
Kaptain Krispy Kreme - I agree. I suppose they did a study and presumably found most business travelers fly alone on these flights which is why they went with individual pods. Otherwise I agree it would be tricky conducting business inflight with a partner. Mind you from North America all flights are overnight flights anyways perhaps it's more about resting up than doing business... not so the other way around though.

As much as they look comfy, the fact that they point away from the windows means that I'd never want to travel Business or First class (not that I can afford it), but I'd rather stay in the Cattle Class and look outside during the flight!

CP - I agree although I'd like to try if first before making that decision LOL... I'm guess again statistically it must show business class people don't spend a lot of time looking out the window... they are probably using Windows in stead :-)

There's a virtual tour on ACs web site here.
I too want to look out of the window!!!

This kind of seat layout is called a "fishbone". These do not swivel.

juho-v - Thanks for the info. I'm not sure I'd really want to be facing the aisle nor be on an angle throughout the flight... but at least up here no one is asking your for money for food..

This layout was first introduced by Virgin. After a couple of years Air New Zealand was the second one to use it. It is a bit strange to sit in an angle but it is ok. Weirdest one is the BA's Club World in which you might have to sit with your back facing forward.

Yeah I flew BA's T7 YUL-LHR-YUL and was in Economy PLus just behind those rear facing seats... kinda funky... I hear it's actually safer to fly backwards like that but airlines won't load a whole plane load or rear facing seats for it all being to radical for the passengers...

Back in 1967 I flew on a British United BAC 1-11 on which all the seats faced backwards, it was very weird! The crash position that they taught during the safety talk was to just sit upright against the seat back.

Wow weird... that must have been your most unusual flight. I knew it was talked about but I never knew any airline actually tried it. Nice for you to have such a unique aviation experience :-)

Yeah! I remember the hardest part was trying to figure out which way to go to get off the aircraft ;-)

WOW! Crazy lookin seats. I can't believe they make you sit sideways!
caribb (51 months ago | reply)
one42chrisp - LOL! I can imagine!
thenewarea51 - I wish I could say they did but I was stuck in the rear mid section instead :-)

If I ever end up with one of the seats, I will take a panorama shot of the cabin! (probably not happening any time soon)
caribb (51 months ago | reply)
That's a far better shot than my silly mobile phone image..thanks! If I ever get one too I'll do the same... don't hang around waiting either LOL..

Had these seats as well on JetAirways BRU-BOM.
More privacy than you would expect, very comfortable too. I liked it.
caribb (50 months ago | reply)
They look a bit wider on Jet Airways than Air Canada. Would be nice to try it someday but....
Amontillada (50 months ago | reply)
@caribb: actually, they are the same, but they optically look more narrow in the darker colour, I think!
caribb (50 months ago | reply)
Could be.. either way there's more room there than what I had LOL (and I didn't complain to begin with).

went on the old aircanada's executive first from houston to london many a time in '07, it was pretty basic but by far the best price, they still are now the best price for such a luxurious space and long haul route, can't wait to try them out with the new interior!
caribb (49 months ago | reply)
gLiTTeRbOi® - LOL :-)
AlexandraSareh - I only flew them this time because they were the lowest price too. Are you transferring through Toronto or Montreal when you go?

Will be flying to Paris from Miami via Toronto in Executive First- the Toronto-Paris flight is supposed to have this configuration. Hope their food is decent!

Interesting point. I haven't a clue how the travel agent produced this itenerary . It would seem more likely to connect through Montreal. It's odder still that we are beginning in Florida.

caribb- trips were always great, never any problems. i must have flown their business class at least 15 round trips in about a year and a half, as i used to go back and forth to London and Houston regularly.
